Excuses, "buts" and limiting beliefs

If you try, you can always find a reason not to do what you really want to do, and it can seem perfectly valid. You can convince yourself that you are being smart, realistic, or safe, or that you don’t even really want it. And most of the time we create those excuses because the unknown can feel terrifying. But somewhere in that same realm where anything could go wrong is the realm of everything that can go right. How many times in your life have you finally pushed yourself to do something and then wondered, “Why did I wait so long?” If you had known the benefits would far outweigh your fear and discomfort, you would have pushed yourself sooner. But you can’t ever know that in advance. You can only know that your reasons to do something are greater than your excuses not to. Today, it is time to take a look at all the excuses you have created that stop you from really going after your dreams. Perhaps, you have convinced yourself that you are just too busy; that you don't have enough money to start or that it won't make enough to support yourself; you just don't know where to start, or basically that you are not enough. Today consciously stop telling yourself the story of why you can’t achieve your goals and dreams and start creating the story of how you can. Your beliefs determine your actions and your actions determine your results, but first you have to believe! Today, change your story and the reasons that you have created why your life doesn't look like what you want it to be. Let go of your excuses and believe you can do it.

Just for today, as I move through the layers of other peoples beliefs and opinions, I see within myself a magnificent being, wise and beautiful. I am willing to release old negative beliefs. They are only thoughts that stand in my way. My new thoughts are positive and fulfilling. I know that all the excuses that I have created are only thoughts and that they can be changed. I am willing to change and everything is always working out for my highest good. And so it is.
