Unconditional happiness
We are socialized to believe that our happiness is conditional and depends on the stars aligning. We are taught that there will be a of a happily-ever-after, whereupon life is supposed to be smooth sailing. Therefore, we live our lives in a constant quest to be happy when/if we get enough money, get the perfect job, the perfect house or the perfect relationship-whatever we have deemed will make us happy. And once we get that, we are okay for a while, but eventually it isn’t good enough, and we are back to searching for the next shiny thing we are sure will make us happy. The problem is we have an insatiable appetite for more. Our desires exponentially multiply, and we become blind to what is right in front of us. We are caught in a cycle of suffering, chasing our tails trying to catch an elusive happiness. And, by chasing the next thing that we think will make us happy, we miss a lot of the little things that could bring us happiness and joy that are right in front of us in this present moment. Today, set your intentions to stop dwelling on what you don’t have or what you have lost or long for in the future. Today, set your intentions to find happiness right in front of you right now. Today, accept that Life happens. If you wait until the conditions are perfect to be happy, you waste precious, limited time. Today, accept that you may not have exactly what you want right now but, in all likelihood you have a lot to be happy and grateful for. Today, focus on what you already have and what you’ve already accomplished. Don't wait for things to get easier, simpler, better. Life will always be complicated. Today, begin to be happy right now. Otherwise, you'll run out of time. Today, do not wait for happiness. Start now. It is within your grasp and know that you deserve it.
Just for today, I know that if I dwell on what I do not want that is exactly what I will get more of. I now dwell on all of my blessings and I am grateful for them all. I recognize that my point of power is always in the present moment. I am a powerful person because I live in the present moment. I release my need to struggle and suffer. And I choose to see the good that is always around me. I am safe, divinely guided and love. And, everything is always working out for my highest good. And so it is.
