Self Love is a necessity

Life is full of ups and down. Successes can morph into perceived failures. Romantic love can be transformed into angry, cold resentment. But, no matter what happens on the outside, you can still have a solid foundation built on self-love. However, it is uncanny how uncomfortable many of us are with the notion of self love. And, for sure, most of us were not taught or shown by example how to love ourselves unconditionally. Today, set your intentions to become aware of how well or how badly you treat yourself. Self-love isn’t a luxury; it’s a necessity in today’s society. But, if you’re in a place today where you don’t love yourself, it’s hard to take a quantum leap and become someone who does. It takes practice and intention to learn how to really love yourself. Just like when you’re building muscles, self-love takes consistent practice. And even if you do not feel comfortable with the idea of loving yourself, today focus on the things that can lead you to self love. Today, stop comparing yourself to others; monitor your self talk; stop shoulding on yourself; set healthy boundaries; surround yourself with people that make you feel good and let go of those who do not and consciously have compassion with yourself when you fall short of your own expectations. Finally, realize that by caring for yourself, you care for this world. Your actions have a ripple effect on others. Today, be the love you have been seeking from outside of yourself and from other people. As Louise said-you've been criticizing yourself for years and you see how well that work out. Today try loving and approving of yourself and see what happens.

Just for today, I monitor my self talk, making certain that it is uplifting and supportive of myself and others. I do a mental housecleaning, making room for new positive thoughts. I respect my boundaries and I insist others do too. I love and accept myself exactly as I am. I am safe. It is only change and out of this situation only good will come. And so it is.
