The art of doing nothing
How many times in a day do you tell yourself you are so busy and have too much to do? How often do to you tell people how "busy" you are and don't have any time for relaxation or rest? And, that is today's buzz word "busy" which keeps us feeling safe by giving us the impression that we are actually doing something at all times-that we are always in control. However, all that busyness isn't really getting you anywhere but exhausted! In fact, you may even tell yourself that it’s okay to do “nothing” and that you deserve some downtime, but you may not really believe that to be true. You may get a sense of self worth by doing, doing and doing. But your self worth has nothing to do with your busyness. Today, it is time for you to begin to practice the art of doing nothing! Today, consciously stop filling every moment of your day with doing, with being "productive". It doesn’t matter which “nothing” you choose, just make sure that you will not be distracted so that you can benefit from it (that means keeping your cell phone far away from you or even turning it off). There are a bunch of benefits that you will get to experience when you release your need to stay busy, which include feeling relaxed and less stressed, decreased tension, increased focus, improved connections with others, and a greater appreciation of all that you have in this moment. Today remember that consciously doing nothing is better than being busy, doing nothing.
Just for today I give myself permission to do absolutely nothing. I do not fix my problems. I fix my thinking and my problems fix themselves. I do not need to earn love. I am loveable because I exist. Others reflect the love I have for myself. I am safe. I am in the process of making positive changes in every area of my life. And so it is.
